The success of Britt Merrick certainly is not breaking news to those who know his name. Having a global impact on a multitude of communities it’s no surprise that many Christian’s, surfers, and people of similar persuasions know who he is. Father to some, pastor to many, and award winning shaper to most, Britt Merrick has lead an incredible life that is a testament to the strength and power of faith in Jesus Christ. Through the medium of film, I want to bring his story to a wider audience of believers, surfers, artists, and dreamers. With cinematic, intimate storytelling and deep conversations about the twists and turns of God’s divine intervention in his life, this film will serve to engage audiences near and far from many stages and walks of life.

Born and raised in the small coastal town of Carpinteria, CA; I was blessed to have standing on the nose of my dad’s board as one of my earliest memories. A deep seated respect and love for the outdoors formed during my upbringing and the community it brings together was permanently imprinted on my heart. I now spend my days chasing snow, swell and using Gods gifts to tell the stories of people changing their corners of the world.

Like Isaiah, I spent nearly 18 years in the small beachside town of Carpinteria, CA. Telling the story of Britt Merrick hits very close to home. I shared a side-yard fence with Britt, Kate, Isaiah, and his sister, Daisy Love, for the first 10 years of my life. In my young teens I found photography and film through my love for the ocean. I spent the following years developing an award-winning body of work and working in the surf industry. After Covid, I made the pivot to the commercial and documentary industry. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to work with brands such as Nike, Apple, Meta, Patagonia, and others through my multi-disciplinary creative and production studio, Alder Originals. The opportunity to lend a hand in bringing this film to life is a full-circle moment and an absolute honor. I’m excited to see it come to life!

ABOUT THE SURFERS BIBLE PROJECT

The Surfers Bible Project aims to create inspiring video testimonies for a global audience that lead people to Jesus. Your support of this film will help us to connect with many more surfers and provide them with a free Surfers Bible and resources to help them discover the story of Jesus.

BUDGET ($20,000 USD)

The budget for this film is separated into three parts. Crew, gear, and overhead. Isaiah Merrick’s rate reflects his role as our director and the time he has invested into the story being told. Nate Cox’s rate reflects his role as our cinematographer, editor, personal gear allocations, as well as production. Both parties have agreed to be compensated an equal rate as to eliminate any future confusion. The budget has been estimated as such.

Alder Originals will be producing the film free of charge, as well as allocating all available camera gear free of charge. Camera gear that will be rented will be designated by Alder Rentals, a division of Alder Originals. Additional rental gear is required to achieve the creative vision that was directed and decided upon by Isaiah Merrick. SEED FUNDING

The total amount needed as seed funding to get this project off the ground is $3,350. This includes camera rental, travel expenses, as well as food. In the event that costs are below what initially expected and the entirety of the seed fund is not used it will be reserved and allocated to the remaining budget cost at the end of the project.
